This morning, while Knox and my roommate’s dog, Dash, were staring up at me from their well-behaved sits on the kitchen floor, I offered up the chance for one of them to go to work in my place. There were no takers. They were just hoping I would drop a dollop of almond butter on the floor while making my morning protein shake.
I want to do a better job of capturing my day-to-day life – not that it is very exciting – and so, on Mondays, I’m going write a weekend review. Generally speaking, my weekends tend to be far more exciting than my weekdays. I’m not promising riveting stuff, here, but if nothing else, I will have it to look back on for myself.
Work has been especially busy the last several weeks as we are in the midst of launching a new website. Just a few more weeks to go… We wrapped up a busy week with (another) Happy Hour on the patio. I skipped the beer, wine, and pizza, though because 1) I’m doing the Arbonne detox again and 2) I had a fun birthday party to get to after work.Hanna, the owner of barre.[d] studio, celebrates a birthday tomorrow, and so she threw a shoeless party at the studio to celebrate not only her birthday, but the studio, Charlottesville, and anything else we could thing of. The theme was black, mint, and peach, so I got all dressed up in black skinny jeans and a black tank, complete with red heels (I was told I looked like Sandy from Grease, minus the teased hair), and joined the celebration. I did cheat a tiny bit on my detox by drinking a Bold Rock. At least it was gluten-free?
Saturday, I taught a barre.[d] SPORT class and knocked out my grocery shopping before noon. I also managed to snag an adorable pair of shoes at Rack Room. I watched the first half of the Tennessee/Georgia game while holding my breath. At one point, we were losing 24-3. Things weren’t looking good in Knoxville.
I pulled myself away from the game to go see Pan with my roommate. The movie has received terrible reviews, but we loved it. We are both big Peter Pan fans and Pan was just magical. It’s by the makers of Harry Potter and it definitely had that feel. If you like Disney movies or have young kids, go see Pan.
Imagine my surprise when, as soon as the movie was over, I pulled out my phone to check the final score of the game and found out that Tennessee WON! It was such a great win. I watched a lot of the post-game stuff when I got home and there emotion from the coaches and players was raw. They wanted that win . We have a bye week this week, and I’m not really sure what I will do with myself.
Yesterday, I taught my morning barre classes, and had intentions of going out to visit my grandma like I do most Sundays. She called me while I was driving home from the studio, however, and let me know she wouldn’t be home. My great uncle has cancer and has been placed on hospice care, so she wanted to spend the day with him. I knew he was sick, but it was still a surprise to hear how far his cancer had progressed. I’m hoping to be able to visit with him this Saturday. He is one of my favorite people.
So, instead of traveling out to the country, I took a much needed day to myself. I read an entire book – Big Little Lies is SO good, y’all. I ventured to the new Goodwill that opened near me in search of Halloween costume pieces and/or furniture that I can refurbish, but walked out with a brand new, still-in-the-bag 8-piece bedding set that I had looked at at Bed Bath and Beyond. I paid $15 for it and it retailed for $90.
I use Sunday evenings for meal prep, and decided to double a detox-friendly chili recipe. I will be eating chili for days and days. Not my best move. So. Much. Chili.
Last thing before I wrap up this week’s weekend review! One of my best friends, Liz, has started a blog! Liz is one of the funniest people I know. The girl is full of wit and smart comments. I can’t wait to see what she blogs about. Expect the occasional photo of her fur nephew, Brody, as well.
That’s all for now, folks. How was your weekend?
