A few weeks ago, I showed my closet no mercy. The Junior League of Charlottesville held our annual Dogwood Deals rummage sale, giving me the perfect excuse to purge.
And purge I did.
I made a hard and fast rule: If I hadn’t worn it in a year, or it was too big, it went to Dogwood Deals. I spent the bulk of a Saturday afternoon trying on clothes and stuffing most of them into trash bags to haul off to my designated donation location.
After such an epic purging session, my walk-in closet is largely empty and my spring wardrobe is pitiful. I have a few shirts, a dress or two, and a few pairs of jeans, but I’m definitely in a period of actually needing to add to my closet.
Who doesn’t love a real, valid excuse to shop?
I have put another rule into place for my spring wardrobe. I will only buy it if I love it, it fits well, and the price is fair. In the past, I have bought things I only kind of like or else spent more on an item than the quality of the product mandated. That led to a closet stuffed with clothes I either never wore or were ill fitting.
My newly minted shopping rule means I’m taking my time to find pieces I love. It also means I’ve been scouring the internet and Pinterest for style inspiration. Here are some of my favorite spring looks that I hope/plan to replicate in my own closet.
I’m really into pinks, blues, and mint green right now, and I love how this outfit pulls together pastels and neutrals. It would be great in my casual office environment.
I haven’t been a big fan of shorts for the last couple of springs, but I’m really into them this year, particularly patterned shorts. I love everything about this outfit, right down to the bag and shoes.
A girl I work with has a similar vest she picked up “years ago” and I want it. Old Navy has similar striped dresses this season. It’s on my agenda to go try a couple styles on this weekend and see if I love any of them.
This is one of those looks I love, but most likely can’t pull off. I can never find a maxi skirt that works with my short frame. I love how easy and casual this look is, however.
I got really into wearing skirts this winter, layered with rights and cardigan. I’m seeing lots of cute skirts in stores this spring, and I love this whole outfit, minus the shoes. This would be super cute with a pair of booties or flats.
What looks are you loving this spring?
